This sign has flashing lights and not all of these lights are on at any given moment in time. The S-11 Sparkle LEDs were placed in the letter "C" as a test to determine if they really were brighter than the existing S-11 bulbs in the remaining letters.

The test revealed that the S-11 Sparkle LEDs have a larger area of brightness and a more golden color than light bulbs. They also turned on and off more quickly and cleanly because they have no filaments.

Each of the S-11 Sparkle LEDs requires only 1.2 watts of power instead of the 20 watts required for each of the S-11 light bulbs - a 94% savings in energy costs.
